ASTi Supplies Equipment for Navy MH-53E Modernization Program
Veraxx Engineering Corporation has ordered an ASTi Digital Audio Communications Systems (DACS) for use in an MH-53E Sea Dragon Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) to be installed at NAS Norfolk, VA. The DACS will realize a high-fidelity communications and environmental sound cueing environment for the flight simulator. The ASTi DACS provides all of the features required by the Navy's MH-53E modernization program, including:
o Two pairs of simulated AN/ARC-210(V) Electronic Counter-Countermeasures (ECCM) Radios (for onboard crew and offboard instructors). ASTi's simulated radios realize a wide array of advanced ARC-210 features: VHF / UHF, AM / FM, Havequick / SINCGARS frequency hopping, cipher / plain text communications security, guard receiver
o Navigation aides: ATIS, GCA, NDB, ADF, TACAN, VOR
o Ground based transmitters
o Multiple intercom channels: aircraft crew, instructor, simulator maintenance
o Analog-to-digital interfaces which--along with the software model--integrate actual avionics equipment including: Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS), Missile Warning System, and ARC-210 RTs into the simulated communications environment
o Digital recording and playback capability for capturing audio streams from simulator missions
o Aural Cue sounds including: rotors, engines, auxiliary power unit (APU), airflow and other ambient sounds, hydraulic pump noise, landing gear, flap movement, touchdown and tire-on-ground noise, malfunction sounds
