Canon Marketing Japan Delivers Digital Imaging Solutions for Salesforce.com's AppExchange, Creating the World's First Service to Connect On-Demand CRM with Multifunctional Peripherals

Utilizing the AppExchange Platform, salesforce.com Customers Can Now Convert Data from Salesforce into PDF and Print Without Using a PC

SAN FRANCISCO, June 28 - Canon Marketing Japan and salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM), the market and technology leader in on-demand business services, today announced the availability of Digital Imaging Solutions for salesforce.com's AppExchange. For the first time, salesforce.com customers can now deploy Digital Imaging Solutions within their Salesforce implementation to allow access to information via multifunctional peripherals (MFPs: intelligent photocopiers that provide fax, copier, scanner, and printer functions), allowing users to access information residing in the Salesforce system, convert data and reports into PDF format and print them, all without using a PC.

Digital Imaging Solutions for AppExchange seamlessly integrates Salesforce with Canon's MEAP-enabled MFPs, imageRUNNER and Color imageRUNNER, via the AppExchange platform. With this new solution, non PC users with access to MFPs can effortlessly gather the information they need from Salesforce through a touch panel on the networked MFP, making access to the most up to date customer information easier for users companywide to retrieve. Digital Imaging Solutions for AppExchange also gives Salesforce customers the ability to display customer information managed in Salesforce in preset reports and then quickly and easily customize and print them directly from an MFP.

"The AppExchange platform provides a great opportunity for Canon to help Salesforce customers extend their functionality to MFPs," said Kazufumi Maruyama, director of the product planning department from Canon Marketing Japan. "I'm very confident this announcement will bring more effectiveness to the workplace, where the ability to convert data into PDF format and print without using a PC helps to increase efficiency."

Eiji Uda, president of salesforce.com Japan, added, "We are inspired by the uptake of the AppExchange platform in Japan and excited to be working with partners like Canon. There are a number of people in the workforce that are not PC users, but still need fast and accurate access to information. Digital Imaging Solutions for AppExchange will provide them with an amazing tool that will drive customer satisfaction at a lower cost than ever before possible."

Customers can set up security rules to allow only certain information to be accessible through the MFP, granting employees using the networked MFP access only to the information they need. For example, in a hotel where Salesforce is in use, the management and reservations agents may need full access to a customer's information, but catering services and housekeeping need only to view reports on the number of meals to be served, or special requirements for a guest's room. Future versions will also enable customer information such as contracts and invoices to be scanned and immediately attached to a record within Salesforce.

The service will be sold by Canon Marketing Japan and more information is available at www.salesforce.com/jp/appexchange.

With more than 250 applications now available globally on the AppExchange directory, Digital Imaging Solutions is one of 28 application listings created by salesforce.com, its customers, and its partners now available on salesforce.com's Japanese AppExchange. Built on the AppExchange on-demand platform, Digital Imaging Solutions for AppExchange is sold by Canon Marketing Japan; information is also available at www.salesforce.com/jp/appexchange.

The AppExchange provides unprecedented ease of customization and integration for Salesforce deployments, as well as enabling a whole new generation of on-demand applications that go beyond CRM. The AppExchange enables all of these on-demand applications to be easily shared, exchanged, and installed into a customer's Salesforce account. The AppExchange can be found at www.salesforce.com/appexchange and in Japanese at www.salesforce.com/jp/appexchange.
