Newson Gale, Inc.

Release date: June 13, 2006

An integrated DVD/DVD-ROM training package from Newson Gale Inc. provides staff training in the control of electrostatic hazards at facilities handling flammable liquids, powders or gasses.

The program is available for a variable licensing fee depending upon usage. It is intended to train operators, technical staff and management to ensure that static control equipment is used effectively and to make them fully aware of the dangers posed by electrostatic discharge in hazardous areas. The program is equally effective in group training or for individual use, particularly as a part of new-hire training. For additional versatility the text, spoken in English, can be supplemented with subtitles in French, German, Spanish or Italian.

The DVD portion is a 25-minute video providing an introduction to the nature and dangers of static electricity, and the available means of controlling this hazard. The DVD-ROM portion centers on two Power-Point presentations that may be used alone or as a part of a company-prepared in-house training course. The first is a Cenelectrex/Newson Gale session oriented to the needs of equipment operators. The second is a more advanced session produced by IChemE, oriented to the needs of technical staff.

In addition, a variety of other training and informational resources are provided in this package. These include: a set of questions intended to demonstrate the qualification of personnel working in hazardous areas, a 24-page publication based on international static safety guidelines, a printable static electricity safety checklist wall chart, a transcript of the video commentary that may be used in conjunction with the qualification test questions, a set of training and presentation notes for use by a course leader, and links to additional resources on the Newson Gale and IChemE websites.
