GE Energy Receives CSA For Waste-To-Energy Plant In Spain

COLOGNE, GERMANY - May 30, 2006 - GE Energy's aeroderivative gas turbine services group has signed a six-year contractual service agreement (CSA) with Zabalgarbi S.A. of Bilbao, Spain.

Under the terms of the contract, GE Energy will provide overhaul and repair services, field service support, asset management and parts sales for the LM6000-PD gas turbine and generator set package at Zabalgarbi's municipal solid waste (MSW)-fueled waste-to-energy plant.

"GE Energy's services are designed to reduce downtime while improving efficiency for our customers," said Dan Werrell, general manager of services operations for GE Energy's aeroderivative division. "Zabalgarbi will see increased availability as a result of this tailored CSA."

The aeroderivative gas turbine being serviced for Zabalgarbi is operated as part of a 95-megawatt, waste-to-energy plant. The steam generated from the boiler combustion train is reheated by the gas turbine exhaust. The overhaul work will be performed at a GE Energy service center in Houston, Texas or Rheden, the Netherlands.

The Zabalgarbi MSW-fueled waste-to-energy facility was built to dispose of domestic garbage in the region of Bizkaia and to contribute to the power supply. Zabalgarbi S.A. was established to develop and operate the plant.

GE Energy's aeroderivative division is a leading supplier of aeroderivative gas turbines and packaged generator sets for industrial and marine applications. The company provides power-generating equipment to utilities, industries and marine fleets throughout the world. It is also the world's largest and most experienced aeroderivative gas turbine service provider.
