IBM System p5 550 2-Way 1.65 GHz Processor Offers New Processor Speed Option

Overview The System p5(TM) 550 offers a new POWER5+(TM) processor option with the 2-way 1.65 GHz processor with a 36 MB L3 cache. The new processor on the p5-550 allows you to configure either a 2-way or 4-way system.
Four new Express Product Offerings are available on the p5-550, offering popular, easy-to-order configurations with attractive financial incentives.
The p5-550 with the new 1.65 GHz processor is supported by a wide range of System Storage(TM) offerings, including the new N3000 and N5000 series of iSCSI offerings. iSCSI allows for a SAN to be set up on your existing Ethernet network. The combination of System p5 and System Storage provides a highly flexible end-to-end server and storage solution designed to help maximize your infrastructure investment.
The rack-mount System p5 550 and 550Q with ac power supply are NEBS Level 3 and ETSI compliant.
IBM is also announcing a NEBS-compliant p5-550 and p5-550Q with -48 V dc power supply and a feature that will enable customers to reset the normal thermal tolerances to higher limits normally associated with NEBS-compliant applications. Both of these features will be available in second quarter 2006. Consult with your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner for additional information prior to changing the thermal tolerances of this system for any other purpose.
The user interface option must be ordered for systems that will be installed in a NEBS environment.
In addition, the p5-550 is now available with the POWER(TM) GXT4500P and the POWER GXT6500P Graphics Accelerators, offering 3D graphics capabilities on the server.
