Gerber Scientific Products, Inc.

Release date: November 18, 2005

Gerber Scientific's Apparel and Flexible Materials Business Segment Introduces New Automated Spreading Solution

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn., Nov. 17 - Gerber Scientific, Inc.'s (NYSE:GRB) Apparel and Flexible Materials business segment, Gerber Technology, has announced the commercial launch of the GERBERspreader XLs50, a new cutting room product specifically designed for apparel manufacturers in developing markets requiring automation solutions at affordable prices.

Designed to be the best overall value on the market, the easy-to-use XLs50 is capable of spreading woven or knit materials from either rolls or folded packs. It provides accurate and consistent spread length and alignment of fabric edges, which enables parts to be nested closer to the beginning, end, and edges of the spread, eliminating end loss and optimizing material utilization.

The XLs50 provides customers with a new low total acquisition cost by offering the most affordable purchase price ever. It also offers low installation, training and other one-time costs, as well as lower ongoing costs for parts and maintenance.

"This is the first of several new products designed specifically for developing markets," said John R. Hancock, President of Gerber Technology. "Market feedback has been very positive and we are encouraged by the number of orders we have received. We expect to begin shipping this product later this quarter."

Marc T. Giles, President and CEO of Gerber Scientific, Inc. added, "As we have discussed, Gerber Scientific plans to launch several new products supporting all three of our business segments over the next several quarters. We will provide an update on the progress of our new product strategies at our upcoming second quarter conference call."
