ThomasNet Releases Updated CAD Library on CD-ROM

Hundreds of Thousands of Engineers and Architects to Receive Latest Versions of PartSpec, PlantSpec and CADBlocks from the Leader in Online Industrial Sourcing and Marketing Solutions

New York, July 21, 2005 - ThomasNet (www.ThomasNet.com), the leader in online sourcing and marketing solutions for industrial buyers and sellers nationwide, today announced the release of the newest version of its highly regarded ThomasNet CAD Library on CD-ROM, including PartSpec v.9.0, PlantSpec v.9.0, and CADBlocks v.8.0. ThomasNet's unique CAD technology enables manufacturers to put 3D CAD models of their products directly into the hands of more than 100,000 engineers and architects who have qualified for free subscriptions. In addition, ThomasNet research shows that the majority of those who receive the CAD Library on CD-ROM will install it on their company's network and share it with colleagues, further extending the reach of this innovative industrial supply and design tool. With this release, for the first time, all three CD-ROM applications may be updated monthly via the Internet. Registered users will receive a pop-up reminder with a web link to download program and catalog updates every 30 days. All three titles feature new listings of manufacturers not included in earlier releases as well as newly updated information on dozens of others. The new content of all three CD-ROMs is also available online at www.cadregister.com and on ThomasNet.com. ThomasNet also is integrating the content of the CD-ROMs into Catalog Navigator, its online catalog solution for industrial manufacturers' web sites.

"The ThomasNet CAD Library on CD-ROM enables manufacturers to place exact product specifications and detailed 3D drawings right into the hands of the qualified engineers and architects responsible for specifying and buying them," said Peter Mooney, Product Manager of ThomasNet CAD Solutions. "By using the ThomasNet CAD Library on CD-ROM, engineers are able to embed a manufacturer's exact product measurements and details into their design drawings, ensuring accuracy and reducing costly errors. ThomasNet research shows that 80% of the products specified by engineers and architects at the design stage are purchased." New Content, Features The ThomasNet CAD Library on CD-ROM includes: o PartSpec v.9.0, which features a total of 127 manufacturers, including new companies and updates on others. The CD-ROM also provides users a huge database of 3D content from 70 industry-leading 3D manufacturers. PartSpec v.9.0 is the ultimate source for pre-drawn mechanical and electrical parts and data, providing more than a billion parts that engineers and architects may download easily into CAD drawings. Among the new CAD catalogs found on this release of PartSpec are: Entegris Inc.; Euchner-USA Inc.; Nook Industries Inc.; Parker Hannifin Corp., Instrumentation Products Div.; Parker Hannifin Corp., IPD Instrumentation Group; Parker Hannifin Corp., Partek Instrumentation Group.

o PlantSpec v.9.0, which includes 29 manufacturers, with new listings and updated entries. PlantSpec contains hundreds of thousands of pre-drawn plant-design components from leading manufacturers, ready to drag and drop into any CAD drawing.

o CADBlocks v.8.0, which provides information on 33 manufacturers, including new listings and updates. CADBlocks is a single source for standard drawings and technical data for more than half-a-million building products and an indispensable design resource for any architect or facilities manager.

In addition, direct insert support has been added for PartSpec v.9.0 and PlantSpec v.9.0. Insert enhancements include AutoCAD 2006, SolidWorks 2005, Inventor 10, SolidEdge v. 14, TurboCAD 10 and Pro-Engineer Wildfire v 2.0. The CADBlocks CD-ROM continues to support the latest versions of AutoCAD. The new release marks the twelfth update of the ThomasNet CAD Library on CD-ROM, and the first versions built completely by ThomasNet employees with the company's newly formed development group, which includes Thomas Industrial Network Germany and GeniCAD, a division of Thomas Publishing. Manufacturers may contact rpashaian@thomasnet.com or call 800-879-6757 for more information on how to include their CAD drawings in ThomasNet's CAD Library on CD-ROM.
