21st Annual National Robot Safety Conference: The Partnership for Collaborative Safety Announced

ANN ARBOR, Michigan (September 10, 2009) - A newly formed partnership for collaborative safety between the Robotic Industries Association and safety partners such as PIAB Vacuum Products has been announced. The partnership seeks to advance robot and machine safety through participation in this year's National Robot Safety Conference XXI, October 26-28, in Dearborn (Detroit, Michigan). The conference focuses on "Moving Forward with Safety," and examines the latest in standards, technology and products.

"PIAB has been an RIA member for a decade now," said Jeffrey A. Burnstein, President, Robotic Industries Association. "They specialize in vacuum products and how to utilize the technology and components within a complete safety system to keep robot users safe. As part of RIA's Partnership for Collaborative Safety, they can now offer registration discounts to attend the National Robot Safety Conference XXI. Both PIAB and RIA will spread the word about safety and this important training opportunity."

RIA's work includes industry training to promote the safe and successful adoption of robots in the workplace. Members of the partnership help disseminate RIA's message of safety and training and their various publics benefit from a registration discount.
The discount is one way the Association and its members work together to help users make the most of limited training budgets. RIA is the official secretariat of the RIA/ANSI R15.06 National Robot Safety Standard and provides in-depth training on the standard at the conference. The training helps workers understand and implement risk assessment and standards compliance. Not only is safety possible through compliance with standards, but significant savings can also be achieved.

"PIAB, who is also exhibiting at the conference's tabletop trade fair on October 27, is the first to enter the program. We invite and look forward to additional companies joining our partnership for Dearborn too," said Burnstein.

More information on the Partnership for Collaborative Safety can be obtained by contacting RIA at 734/994-6088. Additional details on tabletop exhibit and sponsorship opportunities are available by visiting www.robotics.org.
