2010 New Swiss Citizen A32 Turning Center

Delta Gear Company, Fenton, Missouri, has recently installed a new Citizen Cincom A32 VII CNC Swiss turning center.

The 54-year-old firm is a fully-integrated gear hobbing facility. It produces custom gears and electric motor shafts as well as offering custom machining.

The new Citizen, purchased from McClain Tool & Technology, is the 9th piece of CNC equipment purchased from McClain since 1996.

The service provided by McClain has been outstanding,” stated Paul Muckerman Jr., owner and long-time industry veteran. “The Citizen Swiss turning center (Delta Gear’’s 7th) is a ‘rock hard’ piece of equipment. The new one keeps our assortment up to date with the latest technology. It is the fastest Swiss lathe in the world.”

The new A32 features: twin spindles, 23 tools (four live), a 1- 1/4” diameter capacity and a magazine barfeeder.

Muckerman and his cousin, Michael Kriegshauser, represent the second generation of the Muckerman family at the firm.

Delta Gear produces gears from 1/16 to 10” in diameter. The specialized gear forms include: spurs, helicals, splines, worms and worm gears. Further, Delta Gear produces shafting 32” in length. “Much of the shafting and gear blanks are produced on McClain machinery. We are experts in items that repeat about a circle and the best gears and shafts start with the finest blanks.” noted Muckerman. “We focus on high quality, on-time delivery and reasonable pricing.”

Other equipment at the company includes six Swiss lathes (all Citizens) one Nakamura Tome bar fed CNC twin spindle; two large bed CNC lathes, three CNC Turret type lathes; six CNC Vertical mills; two CNC gear hobbers; ten conventional gear hobbers; five cylindrical grinders, three centerless grinders, three vertical and one horizontal broach, as well as a Tesker thread and worm rolling machine. “We can handle the entire manufacturing process from bar to finished product, with the exception of heat treatment, entirely in house. This greatly reduces lead times and cost for our customers.”
