2010 BIO International Convention Highlights Key Policy Issues For Biotechnology



Industry Experts to Discuss Health Care Reform, Patents, Sustainability

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 2010 BIO International Convention will feature high-level industry leaders discussing public policy issues of critical importance to all segments of the biotechnology industry, including health and medicine, food and agriculture, industry and environment and emerging companies. Hosted by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the Convention will be held May 3-6, 2010 in Chicago, Ill. at McCormick Place.

The biotechnology community will be directly impacted by the key policy debates occurring around the world. Policy makers worldwide are debating critical issues related to health care, patents, intellectual property, sustainability, job creation and energy. The outcome of these debates will have a profound impact on our industry and our ability to continue to innovate" said Jim Greenwood, BIO's President and CEO. "This year's program showcases the impact of recent public policy decisions on our industry and the opportunities and challenges for biotechnology as we move forward."

During the breakout sessions, government officials, researchers, academics and high-level company executives will share their insights on topics including the 111th Congress, next steps in health care reform, patent reform and sustainability.
