Danlaw Launches OBDII Device with Texas Instruments SimpleLink(TM) Bluetooth® CC2564 Solution

Continuing innovation for No. 1 OBD device supplier with DL 8-series DataLogger

NOVI, Mich. - Danlaw Inc., announces their next generation OBDII telematics device which gains its Bluetooth® capability from the Texas Instruments (TI) SimpleLink™ Bluetooth CC2564 solution.  The Bluetooth/ Bluetooth low energy dual mode capability introduced in the next-generation DataLogger telematics device is just one of the new features available in the DL 8-series.  The DL 8-series DataLogger also supports a broader range of wireless communication by adding 3G UMTS/HSPS and 2G CDMA 1xRTT compatibility. These features are packed into the smallest telematics device on the market by a company with over 30 years of automotive engineering experience.

TI's SimpleLink CC2564 device provides best-in-class range and supports Bluetooth 4.0 dual mode capabilities which is a great fit for the automotive industry because it enables connectivity to a variety of Bluetooth/Bluetooth low energy-based devices. With the SimpleLink CC2564 device embedded in Danlaw's solution, it now can offer custom interface handling to support Bluetooth-based applications such as driver identification, real-time feedback, hybrid data transmission, and text or phone disablement.

Danlaw was recently ranked No. 1 in North America for OBD Devices in a recent Global Study by PTOLEMUS who surveyed 78 technology suppliers in the Usage Based Insurance (UBI) industry. The ranking was based on 14 criteria including the company footprint, product range and track record.  Insurance companies and fleet managers using Danlaw's telematics device mitigate risk by using a self-installed device that has the highest vehicle compatibility rate with over 1 million deployed units.

"We are very pleased to announce our GEN2.5 DL 8-series DataLogger.  We are now able to offer custom interface handling to support a wide range of Bluetooth based applications along with extensive phone coverage, thanks to the TI's Bluetooth dual-mode solution," said Thomas Rzeznik, president and COO of Danlaw. "Our promise is to continue to provide high quality devices while offering innovative new features, to a rapidly expanding telematics market."
