Press release date: September 19, 2012

Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com) is offering its 100BASE-FX fiber PCI network interface card which is designed to operate at 100 Mbps and provides a network throughout of up to 200 Mbps in full-duplex mode. The card is suitable for use in applications where the access to information point distance is over 100 m.
This 100BASE-FX fiber PCI network interface card, model C0320004, features plug and play design, full duplex or half-duplex operation and high level VLAN filtering function. It complies with the IEEE 802.3u 100Base-FX standard. It replaces the network structure which is an External Ethernet Media Converter via RJ45 interface and provides users with a reliable Fiber to the home (FTTH) and fiber to the desktop solution.

This plug and play card provides IEEE802.3x Flow Control for full duplex operation allowing enhanced operation when directly connected to a switch. Its IP multicast packet filtering function reduces CPU utilization and conserves network bandwidth. In addition, two LED indicators (LINK/ACT and FDX) on the bracket allow for monitoring the board link activities and full-duplex status.

This 100BASE-FX fiber PCI network interface card belongs to GAO’s family of 10/100 M Media Converter. This line also includes 10/100Base-TX to 100Base-FX Media Converter which is used in backbone network transmission and is primarily used for Gigabit Ethernet devices links, 10/100Base-TX to 100Base-FX Media Converter with LFP Function which enhances the integrity and conformity of the TP-Fiber linking to improve the maintainability of the network and 1000 M Fiber Optic Network Interface card which is designed to operate at 1000 Mbps and provides up to 2000 Mbps full-duplex bandwidth capacity to support high-end servers.
