Objet demonstrates unique multi-material 3D printing to conference for technology thought-leaders and influencers

Rheinmuenster, Germany - Objet was invited to take a starring role at a Test Lab session of Wired Magazine's inaugural conference in London this month. "3D printing was set to be a hot topic at WIRED 2011, so we wanted to bring someone on board who could demonstrate some of the most exciting applications of the technology," comments Peter Giblin, curator of the Test Lab. "When we heard about Objet's unique multi-material printing capability we were determined to include Objet Connex technology in the session."

WIRED 2011 Together with O2 was a conference celebrating ideas, innovations and people that reshape the world, designed to immerse participants in a creative and innovative atmosphere of collaborative discovery and knowledge sharing. The Test Lab session provided an opportunity for delegates to explore the latest fascinating new technologies, as selected by Wired. According to Objet UK Sales Manager Chris Baker: "It was a bustling hive of activity with robots interacting with crowd, 3D cameras recording the event and model helicopters threatening to endanger the chandeliers of The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel - not to mention the 3D printing."

Delegates had seen talks with a heavy emphasis on 3D printing earlier in the day from Chris Anderson, Wired's US Editor-in-Chief, and Lisa Harouni, MD and Co-Founder of Digital Forming. The Test Lab provided an opportunity to see the process first-hand with the recently introduced Objet260 Connex multi-material 3D Printer. Giblin concludes, "The Test Lab was a great success and we were delighted with the contribution from Objet. It was great to see the bewilderment and excitement on the faces of those new to 3D printing when they saw models printed during the session, in one build, with moving parts, multiple materials and no assembly required, and they started to contemplate the possibilities."
