A4A Congratulates 2014 EMMC Nuts and Bolts Award Recipients
Dave Ramage and Joe White Recognized for Outstanding Commercial Aviation Industry Service and Achievements at MRO Americas
WASHINGTON – Airlines for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, today presented the A4A Engineering, Maintenance, and Materiel Council (EMMC) 2014 Nuts and Bolts Award at the annual MRO Americas conference held in Phoenix, Ariz. to two aviation industry experts: Dave Ramage, Vice President of Technical Operations at JetBlue Airways; and Joe White, who most recently served as A4A’s Managing Director of Engineering & Maintenance before retiring in 2013. The Nuts and Bolts Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding service and achievements in the engineering or maintenance fields within the commercial aviation industry.
Ramage has more than 40 years of exemplary achievement in various engineering and maintenance positions at airlines, including Air Canada and JetBlue Airways where he has nurtured the growth of the carriers’ environmental responsibility efforts, advocating for streamlined process design and implementation of fleet plans that incorporate more efficient airframes and engine technologies. He has served as an industry spokesman on the MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) Americas advisory board. Ramage is part of the Public Education Needs Civil Involvement in Learning (PENCIL) partnership with New York City Schools and serves on the Advisory Board of Cape Cod Community College to help build future aviation leaders. The EMMC recognized him for his outstanding leadership in developing strong, long-standing relationships within the MRO community, and focus on continuous learning and improvement.
Joe White has nearly 20 years of experience working at A4A in positions critical to the management of engineering and maintenance following a distinguished career with the U.S. Navy. He was instrumental in the development of public policies on a wide range of industry issues, including fuel tank inerting, airworthiness directive process enhancement and the use of personal electronic devices on board. White championed the Lead Airline Process that brought together member airlines, manufacturers, government agencies, and myriad taskforces, committees, and working groups to ensure the safe and reliable operation of U.S. carriers worldwide. In his nomination, White’s excellent management skills and unwavering focus on further improving an already tremendous record of operational safety within the U.S. airline industry were highlighted.
Each year since 1967, the A4A EMMC has presented the Nuts and Bolts Award to individuals who have made significant contributions over an extended period of time as airline employees or individuals from other segments of the industry.
