Dr. James J. Simnick receives Award of Merit.

ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants has presented Award of Merit to James J. Simnick, Ph.D., technical advisor in Global Fuels Technology Department at BP America Inc. A member of ASTM since 1995, Simnick is first vice chairman of committee and has been section vice chairman of Subcommittee D02.A0.01 on Gasoline and Gasoline-Oxygenate Blends since 2001. He has more than 33 years of experience in downstream, refining, and fuels technology. Read More

Roofing/Waterproofing Committee honors James C. Strong.

James C. Strong, associate principal at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc., received Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow from ASTM International Committee D08 on Roofing and Waterproofing. ASTM International member since 1995, Strong has experience investigating and solving water leakage problems in roofing, above- and below-grade waterproofing, and exterior wall systems. Edward Trackman Joins IPC as Special Projects VP.

Edward Trackman has joined IPC staff as vice president of special projects. John Mitchell of Bose Corporation called Trackman "a consummate professional and visionary," citing his "engineering experience, knowledge, and management savvy." In addition to 20+ published articles, Trackman has 6 U.S. patents and related foreign patents. His engineering career has spanned such institutions as General Motors Research Laboratories, Bose Corporation, and Golden Key International Honour Society. Read More

PMI gives back with service day in Santa Rosa, CA.

Prior to start of PMI Spring Conference, members and staff volunteered for day of service at the Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County's ReStore retail outlet. PMI team assisted with pricing products, moving displays, and cleaning merchandise, while learning about mission of Habitat for Humanity. In addition to putting together build day event, PMI also will make financial donation to Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County to help support their vision for affordable housing. Read More

EPA Draft Ammonia Assessment available for public comment.

Offering estimate of amount of ammonia one person can inhale daily over their lifetime without harmful health effects, draft Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) health assessment for ammonia will be available for public comment for 60 days and sent for independent expert peer review. Draft assessment includes template for describing literature search approach, identifies strengths/weaknesses of analyzed studies, and describes how EPA applied their guidance, methods, and criteria. Theodore Engle Honored for work on copper/copper alloy standards.

ASTM International Committee B05 on Copper and Copper Alloys presented Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow to Theodore J. Engle, product development manager at Revere Copper Products of Rome, NY. ASTM member since 1997, Engle is second vice chairman of Committee B05 and serves on multiple subcommittees. He is also chairman of Subcommittee B05.02 on Rod, Bar, Wire, Shapes, and Forgings and secretary of B05.94 on Strategic Planning. Engle also works on Committees E06/E12/E35. Read More
