TRFA to Offer Epoxy Short Course preceding 2012 Annual Meeting.

TRFA will offer Epoxy 101 Short Course as prelude to its Annual Meeting, which will take place October 29-30 in Orlando, FL. Scheduled for October 28 from 8:30 am to 5:45, course will present introduction and advanced concepts in formulation, application, and end-uses of thermoset resin technologies. Specifically, Epoxy 101 includes materials overview on advantages and common use of epoxy resins and hardener types as well as application presentations by each TRFA Market-Focused Committee. NFPA Foundation acknowledges 3 new Legacy Builders.

NFPA Education and Technology Foundation acknowledges 3 companies that have reached Legacy Builder giving level: Bimba Manufacturing of Monee, IL; Caterpillar Inc. of Joliet, IL; and Parker Hannifin Corp. of Cleveland, OH. By reaching Legacy Builder level-$25,000 in cumulative donations to the Foundation-they can use "Legacy Builder" logo on their company letterhead and web sites. ANSI-HSSP to host roundtable discussion on Resiliency Metrics.

On August 22, ANSI Homeland Security Standards Panel will host roundtable discussion, Resiliency Metrics: Standards, Test Labs and Methods, and Measuring Tools to discuss current resilience standards that cover issues of resilience in variety of relevant fields. Discussion will touch on methods of measuring resilience, as well as possibility of creating public-private cooperative groups to establish comprehensive certification and ratings system for designating resilience. Experts Sought for Virtual TAG for revision of ISO/IEC Guide 51.

Joint Working Group (JWG) of ISO and IEC is revising ISO/IEC Guide 51, Safety aspects - Guidelines for their inclusion in standards. ANSI seeks U.S. experts to serve on U.S. Virtual Technical Advisory Group to JWG for revision of ISO/IEC Guide 51, which provides standards writers with guidelines for inclusion of safety aspects when developing and discussing standards. Also, ANSI is soliciting comments on second Committee Draft consultation on revision of ISO/IEC Guide 51. Read More

BIO supports Renewable Chemical Production Tax Credit Act.

BIO thanked Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) for introducing the Qualifying Renewable Chemical Production Tax Credit Act of 2012, which provides renewable chemical and bio-based products access to tax credits that are available to other industries. Peter Borden Transitions based on AMT merger success.

AMT (Association For Manufacturing Technology) announced that Peter Borden, past President of AMTDA and current Strategic Integration Officer of AMT, will be leaving the association as of August 31, 2012. In comment, Borden said "It was my intention to stay and support the organization until all of our operations were successfully integrated." AMT president Douglas K. Woods expressed gratitude regarding Borden's leadership as well as his efforts regarding integration of AMT and AMTDA. Read More
