NIST Guide helps utilities develop Green Button web tools.

With NIST User Guide for web developers, electric utilities and vendors can give customers electronic access to their energy usage data with tools and applications developed as part of Green Button initiative. Consumers armed with this information can then use array of Web applications to make more informed energy decisions. NTSB to Hold Forum on Positive Train Control.

To be held by NTSB on February 27, 2013, "Positive Train Control: Is it on Track?” will bring together experts to discuss technological, regulatory, and operational status of Positive Train Control (PTC). NTSB Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman, noting that industry is preparing to make "substantial infrastructure investments," said that "this is a timely opportunity to engage in the dialogue and advocate for this important safety enhancement." IPC Commodities Report predicts rising price trend.

According to February 2013 edition of IPC Commodities Report for the Electronics Industry, all metals IPC tracks for electronics industry experienced double-digit percentage price decreases in 2012, with the exception of gold. After rally in second half of 2012, most prices now appear to be holding steady as markets await outcome of economic developments in Europe, the USA. and China. Forecast for 2013 is a moderate resumption of rising prices for most metals, with exception of nickel. Read More

EPA provides tools for sustainable communities.

EPA released Creating Equitable, Healthy, and Sustainable Communities report, which describes how low-income, minority, and tribal communities can employ smart growth strategies to clean up and reinvest in existing neighborhoods; provide affordable housing and transportation; and improve access to jobs, parks, and stores.
