TRIB to Exhibit at TMC Transportation Technology Exhibition.

Tire Retread and Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) will be an exhibitor at Technology and Maintenance Council's (TMC) Transportation Technology Exhibition, which takes place in Nashville, TN from March 11–14. TRIB will show large-screen version of retread plant tour video as well as distribute copies of 16-page color brochure, "Understanding Retreading," and materials from TRIB members that cater to transportation industry. AAMA announces certification extension.

During 76th Annual Conference, AAMA announced approval of AAMA 106-13, Interim Procedural Guide, which will provide documented, optional process to extend current, unexpired AAMA product certification to any edition of AAMA/WDMA(/CSA) 101/I.S.2(/A440), North American Fenestration Standard/Specification for windows, doors, and skylights for period of 2 years for products that have had no changes. AAMA recognizes member leadership during Annual Conference.

During 76th Annual Conference Awards Banquet, AAMA recognized contributions and achievements of its members and congratulated award winners. Award presenters noted the importance of these member contributions as they serve to further the industry as a whole. Recipients included: Pella Corporation; Rod Hershberger of PGT Industries; Scott Condreay of Sapa Extrusions; José Colón of Architectural Testing, Inc.; and Tracy Rogers of Quanex Building Products. ACC's Monthly CAB suggests consumer confidence strengthening.

According to American Chemistry Council's (ACC) monthly Chemical Activity Barometer (CAB), U.S. economy continued to show slow expansion by increasing 0.6% over January on 3-month moving average (3MMA) basis. Year over year 3MMA showed 2.9% gain over February 2012, and February was CAB's seventh consecutive monthly gain. ACC's chief economist Dr. Kevin Swift noted, increase in chemical industry activity as "good sign for the overall health of the economy." Read More

Senate introduces important workforce training bill.

Manufacturing Institute President Jennifer McNelly issued statement in response to senate's introduction of the AMERICA Works Act, which would help address severe skills gap facing U.S. manufacturers. As manufacturing environment rapidly advances, skills and competencies of workforce must keep pace. Industry-recognized certifications, such as those in NAM-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System, help individuals access skills and competencies they need for manufacturing jobs today. IPC Releases PCB Industry Results for January 2013.

IPC announced January 2013 findings from its monthly North American PCB Statistical Program, in which Total North American PCB shipments were down 1.1% from January 2012 and bookings decreased 4.0% year over year. Month-to-month growth rates were not available in January due to change in IPC's survey sample as of the first of the year. Strengthening for second consecutive month, book-to-bill ratio crossed into positive territory in January and stands at 1.01. Read More
