SPE Discloses Presentation Program for 2013 Eurotec® conference.

As announced by SPE, second SPE EUROTEC® conference will feature program of 147 original, peer-reviewed technical presentations. Types of presentation will include plenary addresses (2 speakers each day), new technology and innovative polymers forums (16 presentations), and technical presentations. Latter will include 25 sessions with 131 presentations total on diverse topics. Conference will take place July 4–5, 2013 at Cité Congress Exhibition Centre in Lyon, France. Read More

Tyson Foods Settlement addresses anhydrous ammonia releases.

Addressing threats of accidental chemical releases after anhydrous ammonia was released during incidents at facilities in KS, MO, IA, and NE, U.S. EPA and U.S. Department of Justice announced Clean Air Act (CAA) settlement with Tyson Foods, Inc. and several of its affiliate corporations. Terms of consent decree requires Tyson to conduct third-party audits of its current compliance with CAA's Risk Management Program requirements at all 23 facilities as well as pay $3.95 million penalty. Linda Dempsey issues statement regarding Japan and TPP.

Linda Dempsey, NAM Vice President of International Economic Affairs, issued statement after the United States and Japan announced an agreement to allow Japan to enter the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks. According to Dempsey, the commitments that Japan has made to address longstanding challenges are encouraging, and we will continue to work vigorously with the U.S. government to ensure a level playing field for all manufacturers in the United States. ANSI Chemical Network Online Discussion will be held at 10:30 am EDT on April 18, 2013. This informal exchange, co-moderated by Michael Kirschner and Dr. Richard J. Forselius, will feature guest speaker Dr. Lauren Heine, who will discuss GreenScreen Program. During discussion, various chemical-related subjects are expected to be raised. ANSI renames Homeland Security Standards Panel.

ANSI Homeland Security Standards Panel Steering Committee announced that HSSP has been renamed Homeland Defense and Security Standardization Collaborative. New name reflects revision of group's charter intended to expand its scope to include issues related to homeland defense and to include input from wider range of government agencies and private groups. HSSP was originally established in 2003 to bolster development of voluntary standards related to homeland security and emergency preparedness. Read More

Sunbelt Rentals Contributes to Restoration Industry Legal Fund.

Sunbelt Rentals, Inc., member of Restoration Industry Association (RIA), has contributed $50,000 in matching funds to Restoration Industry Legal Fund (RLIF) and is challenging other vendors at upcoming RIA Industry Summit and Exhibition to contribute. Ken Rothmel of Sunbelt Rentals said "Sunbelt Rentals cannot sit idly by and not help to defend RIA members" and asked other RIA exhibitors "to commit what they can to help fund this important cause."
