Catherine Morris becomes first woman Chair of RIA.

Catherine Morris, Senior Account Manager of ATI Industrial Automation, Apex, NC, was first elected to RIA Board in 2003 and most recently served as Board's First Vice Chair. She is a Past Chair, current member of RIA Membership Committee, and also chairs show committee for Automate 2013, RIA's flagship event. Morris has been an account manager with ATI for 16 years, with a primary focus on key OEMs and automotive customers. Read More

ANSI seeks experts for child safety guideline revision.

At September 2011 meeting, ISO Technical Management Board moved to initiate revision of ISO/IEC Guide 50 - child safety guidelines published by ISO and IEC. As member of ISO TMB, ANSI can name up to 2 experts to serve on ad hoc group being formed to pursue this revision effort. ISO/IEC Guide 50 provides framework for addressing potential sources of unintentional hazards to which children might be exposed during use of, or interaction with, a product, service, or system. NREL's Economic Benefit to Colorado totals $831.3 million.

According to study by University of Colorado's Leeds College of Business, NREL's economic impact grew 41% from FY 2009's $588.3 million, and 12% from FY 2010's $742 million, as construction continued on energy-efficient research and office buildings that will house employees leading nation to clean energy future. NREL's construction spending totaled $69 million in FY 2011, up from $26.7 million 2 years previous, translating to hundreds of new jobs for construction workers. Read More

New quantitative test methodology within IPC/JEDEC-9707, Spherical Bend Test Method for Characterization of Board Level Interconnects, lets users determine how much strain packages can take before reliability degradation. Test methodology calls for 8 points of contact arranged in circular pattern.
