Joint IPC/FED Event to address embedded component technology.

Embedded component technology is rapidly gaining ground as a vehicle for miniaturization and cost containment. To help the electronics industry keep pace with growing interest in embedded components, IPC announces an ambitious technical agenda for the IPC/FED Conference on Embedded Components. Developed in collaboration with Fachverband Elektronik-Design e.V., event will feature 14 presentations highlighting reliability, test, assembly issues, and new manufacturing methods. Read More

ANSI welcomes new members.

In April 2013, ANSI welcomed 24 new members. Organizations joined federation that represents more than 125,000 companies and well over 3.5 million professionals. Under Institute’s umbrella, diverse constituency works together to strengthen competitiveness of businesses operating in global marketplace and to improve quality of life for all citizens by developing, implementing, and promulgating voluntary consensus standards and related conformance assessment systems. Manufacturers win in fight against NLRB overreach.

May 8, 2013

NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons issued statement after U.S. Court of Appeals for D.C. Circuit ruled in favor of NAM's appeal of the NLRB's posting requirement rule issued by agency last year. According to Timmons, the poster rule is a prime example of a government agency that seeks to fundamentally change the way employers and employees communicate. The U.S. Court of Appeals has rightfully ruled that the NLRB has no authority to enforce notice posting. Read More

ANSI Hosts GSO Representatives at Washington DC headquarters.

On April 22 of 2013, ANSI welcomed Nabil Molla, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Standardization Organization (GSO), along with delegation of GSO member standards bodies. ANSI senior management and staff provided delegation with overview of U.S. system and ANSI's role as well as detailed information about ANSI's accreditation activities. TRIB Managing Director will present at conference in China.

David Stevens of Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) will be present "An Overview of the Global Retreading Industry and the Use of Advanced Technology to Improve Retread Quality" as featured speaker at 4th Annual China International Rubber Tire and Auto Accessory Exhibition. To be held from May 15–17, 2013, this event will take place in Guangrao, China, which according to Stevens, holds growing importance as Chinese tire industry continues to grow. BIO Writes House, Senate on Farm Bill Energy Title Programs.

BIO wrote leaders of House and Senate Agricultural Committees to urge reauthorization and mandatory funding of Farm Bill Energy Title programs and eligibility for renewable chemicals. Praising previous bipartisan support, BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood said supporting these programs "will drive the development of a 21st Century bio-based economy, create high-quality rural jobs, spur economic growth, revive America’s manufacturing sector, and improve environmental health." RIA recognizes Phoenix Award winners.

May 7, 2013

At the recent Leadership Summit & Industry Expo in Las Vegas, Kelmann Restoration received the Phoenix Award for Innovation in Restoration, while Platinum Restoration received the Phoenix Award for Innovation in Reconstruction. Kelmann was recognized for its innovative work following the restoration of the St. Alphonsus Parish and School after a fire. Platinum Restoration was chosen for their restoration of an historical home built in 1898. Read More

Nominations Sought for 2014 ANSI Board of Directors.

ANSI invites all members to recommend qualified candidates for 2014 ANSI Board of Directors. Nominations are due by June 3, 2013 and are for terms that begin January 1, 2014. Board is responsible for management and control of activities, property, and affairs of ANSI, including its strategic direction, annual budget, as well as scope of responsibilities of Board and Institute Committees, Councils, and Boards. Nominations require biographical statement and letter of corporate support. Read More
