BIO thanks representatives for energy title amendment.

BIO thanked Reps. Timothy Walz (D-MN), Cheri Bustos (D-IL), Ann Kuster, (D-NH), William Enyart (D-IL), and Mike McIntyre (D-NC) for sponsoring amendment to provide mandatory funding to energy title programs in HR 1947, the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013. According to Brent Erickson, EVP of BIO's Industrial & Environmental Section, renewable energy programs of the Farm Bill have been successful in supporting economic growth and employment opportunities in rural America. ASTM Fence Committee approves two new standards.

Recently approved ASTM F2957, Specification for Ornamental Aluminum Fence Systems, defines minimum selection criteria and test procedures to ensure proper end-product manufacture. Also approved, ASTM F3000/F3000M, Specification for Polymer Privacy Insert Slats for Chain Link Fabric and Privacy Chain Link Fabric Manufactured Containing Pre-Installed Privacy Slats, provides configurations and materials to be used as well as fence framework construction instructions. ASTM Manual covers petroleum refining and natural gas process.

ASTM has released Manual 58, Petroleum Refining and Natural Gas Process. With contributions from more than 40 scientists, experts, and professionals, handbook covers topics such as: petroleum and hydrocarbon processing, refining, transportation, and storage; design and operational aspects of refinery units; planning, scheduling, and management of refineries; alternative fuels, such as hydrogen and biofuels; and new test methods, specifications, and quality of various petroleum products. ASTM Forensic Psychophysiology Committee to meet June 4.

The next meeting of ASTM International Committee E52 on Forensic Psychophysiology will be held at the 36th Annual Seminar of the American Association of Police Polygraphists. Meeting will provide attendees with information regarding Committee E52 and its standards, as well as an opportunity for attendees to participate in standards development process by providing feedback to proposed revisions of existing E52 standards.
