CITGO to Reduce Air Pollution, Pay Penalty for CAA violations.

As announced by Department of Justice and U.S. EPA, Houston-based CITGO Petroleum Corp (CITGO) agreed to pay $737,000 civil penalty and to implement projects to reduce harmful air pollution. This resolves alleged violations of Clean Air Act (CAA) at CITGO's petroleum refining facilities located in Lemont, IL and Lake Charles (Westlake), LA. Additionally, settlement requires CITGO to implement projects expected to reduce emissions of VOCs, including toxics, by >100 tons over next 5 years. Read More

JetBlue Airways Corp CEO and president David Barger will speak at 9 am September 27 during American Bar Association Forum on Air and Space Law Annual Meeting, which will be held at Ritz-Carlton Battery Park in New York, NY from September 27–28. Topics to be addresses at this conference include rise of airline acquisitions and mergers, regulation of air and space traffic management, technology and airline passenger rights, future of emissions in aviation, and human spaceflight regulations. IPC Hand Soldering Competition to heat up productronica 2013.

During productronica 2013, November 12–15, IPC's Hand Soldering Competition will recognize best skills in hand soldering complex printed board assemblies. Over 4 days, participants will compete against each other to build functional electronics assembly within 45-minute time limit. Assemblies will be judged on soldering in accordance with IPC-A-610E Class 3 criteria, speed at which assembly was produced, and overall electrical functionality of assembly. Read More

GAWDA Honors Dick Couch with Presidential Award of Excellence.

GAWDA is recognizing Hypertherm founder and CEO Dick Couch with its Presidential Award of Excellence, which recognizes outstanding contributions to industry. While bestowing this award, GAWDA president Craig Wood cited Couch's passion and dedication to improving gas and welding industry. Wood also mentioned Hypertherm's 111 patents related to metal cutting technology and noted that Couch is named-inventor or co-inventor on 42 of them. Couch founded Hypertherm in 1968. Read More

ASTM Roofing Committee honors Dr. Rene Dupuis for contributions.

ASTM International Committee D08 on Roofing and Waterproofing presented Rene Dupuis, Ph.D., principal at Structure Research Inc., with William C. Cullen Award for his contributions to international standards for roofing and waterproofing. Member of ASTM International and Committee D08 since 1978, Dupuis works on several D08 subcommittees, received D08 Award of Appreciation twice, and was honored with Walter C. Voss Award in 2005 for contributions in field of building technology. Read More
