Biofuel Groups Ask to Intervene in legal challenge to RFS2.

BIO, Growth Energy, and Renewable Fuels Association filed on November 1, 2013 motion in U.S. Court of Appeals for District of Columbia Circuit to intervene in support of EPA Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS2) 2013 final rule. Monroe Energy, American Petroleum Institute, and American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers are challenging this rule and seek reduction of 2013 volume obligations for all renewable fuels, which would directly impact interests of biofuel trade groups’ member companies. Scheduled for 1:00 pm EST on Nov. 21, Pump Acceptance Testing for Rotodynamic Pumps webinar will be led by Richard Rindy, Test Lab Manager, Weir Minerals North America, and will cover Rotodynamic Pumps for Hydraulic Performance Acceptance Tests (ANSI/HI 14.6–2011) Standard. Experts Will Present Research at Tin Whiskers Symposium.

Eric Chason, Ph.D., professor of engineering at Brown University, will present his tin whisker research at 7th International Tin Whiskers Symposium, which will take place November 12–13, 2013 in Costa Mesa, CA. His presentation, "Real Time Study of Whiskers/Hillock Formation in Sn-Cu Systems During Thermal Cycling," will provide information on systematic experiments conducted to confirm that stress from intermetallics causes tin whiskers to form. EPRI Receives Funding from DOE to support solar energy R&D.

EPRI will receive over $5 million in funding from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for projects that are part of SunShot Initiative, which represents collaborative, national effort to drive innovation to make solar energy cost-competitive with traditional energy sources by this decade's end. Awards in which EPRI is included are Solar Utility Networks: Replicable Innovations in Solar Energy (SUNRISE) award and Grid Engineering for Accelerated Renewable Energy Deployment (GEARED) award. AAMA AMC publishes aluminum sustainability white paper.

According to AAMA's Brent Slaton, release of "Aluminum: The Total Solution for Sustainable, Strong and Efficient Commercial Building Design" by Aluminum Material Council (AMC) of AAMA aims to encapsulate strategic advantages of incorporating aluminum extrusions into commercial fenestration products. Public Listening Sessions address power plant carbon pollution.

U.S. EPA will hold 11 public listening sessions to solicit ideas and input from public and stakeholders about best Clean Air Act (CAA) approaches to reducing carbon pollution from existing power plants, which represent largest stationary source of carbon pollution in USA. Feedback from these sessions will help EPA develop smart, cost-effective guidelines that reflect latest and best information available.
