ATA Announces Additional Speakers for Executive Summit.

American Trucking Associations announced featured speakers for ATA Executive Summit on Technology-Driven Performance taking place December 4–6. Speakers will include John Ellis, global technologist and head of Ford Developer Program at Ford Motor Co., as well as futurist Glen Heimstra number of trucking industry leaders from prominent fleets and suppliers. NREL ESIF garners LEED® Platinum designation.

November 14, 2013

Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF), located on campus of U.S. Department of Energy's NREL in Golden, CO, earned LEED® Platinum designation for new construction from U.S. Green Building Council. This 182,500 ft² facility is first in USA to help public and private sector researchers scale up promising clean energy technologies and test how they interact with each other and grid at utility scale. ESIF houses >15 experimental laboratories, several outdoor test beds, and HPC data center. Read More

EPA Seeks Public Input on graphic for bug repellent labels.

November 14, 2013

According to Federal Register Notice released by U.S. EPA, public input is being sought on new insect repellent graphic for skin-applied insect repellent product labels. Applied voluntarily by manufacturers, graphic will provide consumers with health information, such as estimated number of hours product will repel potentially harmful insects when used as directed, in prominent and standardized format. Label has been in development for past 4 years by EPA, focus groups, and manufacturers. Read More

NREL Working Group releases solar standard contracts.

Assembled by NREL, Solar Access to Public Capital (SAPC) working group developed standard contracts that aim to help lower transaction costs and facilitate access to low-cost financing for residential and commercial solar power projects. Contracts cover residential leases and commercial power purchase agreements. Group members recognized customizable contract templates could improve consumer transparency and private-sector investment while lowering cost of solar energy to end-users. Read More

September 2013 sees rise in manufacturing technology orders.

November 14, 2013

According to AMT, September U.S. manufacturing technology orders, totaling $397.57 million, are up 5.8% from August but down 31.1% compared to September 2012. With year-to-date (YTD) total of $3,507.71 million, 2013 is down 11.3% compared with 2012. These numbers and data are based on totals reported by companies participating in USMTO program. Compiled report provides regional and national U.S. orders data of domestic and imported machine tools and related equipment. Read More

NEMA hires first public relations specialist.

NEMA announced that Phallan K. Davis has joined its staff as its first public relations specialist. To advance interests of NEMA's 400-plus member companies, Davis will raise NEMA's profile to media, government, and other external sources for matters pertaining to electroindustry, including Smart Grid, storm and disaster recovery, and how to reduce product's carbon footprint. Davis comes to NEMA with more than 7 years of agency, nonprofit, and political communications experience. Read More
