Dr. Thomas Zimmer named VP of European Operations.

As Vice President of European Operations, Dr. Thomas Zimmer will be responsible for leading ISPE's business development and advancing strategic relationships in Europe. Dr. Zimmer is a licensed pharmacist and joins ISPE with more than 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining ISPE, Dr. Zimmer was Senior Vice President at Boehringer Ingelheim. ASTM presents Hecht Award to Robert T. Shannon.

Robert T. Shannon, radioanalytical consultant at Quality Radioanalytical Support LLC, has received Max Hecht Award for his outstanding service to Committee D19 on Water. A member of ASTM since 2000, Shannon has received three Standards Development Awards from Committee D19 during his tenure, and also serves on ASTM Committee C26 on Nuclear Fuel Cycle. Shannon has supported government and independent commercial testing laboratory needs as a radiochemist for more than 20 years. Read More

BIO Calls Proposed Rule on 2014 RFS blow for advanced biofuels.

November 19, 2013

BIO and advanced biofuel members will seek to correct flaws in proposed rule on 2014 volume obligations for Renewable Fuel Standard. In his statement, BIO's Brent Erickson said rule "turns the logic of the RFS on its head" and could "significantly chill" advanced biofuels project investments. Erickson cited jobs figures and levels of private investment into technology at risk by said proposal and said “We will focus ... on convincing the administration to right the course on this policy.” Read More

Representative Scott Peters will open 2013 Pacific Rim Summit.

Representative Scott Peters(D) of 52nd Congressional District of California will deliver opening remarks at 2013 Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy. BIO's Brent Erickson called Peters "an essential voice for the industrial bioscience sector and the many San Diego-based companies involved," citing his support for federal investments in advanced biofuels, renewable chemicals, and biobased products.
