MCA Surpasses Milestone of having 100 member companies.

Reflecting momentum of recent growth, Motion Control Association (MCA) passed the 100 member companies milestone. Members now include manufacturers of motion control components and systems, distributors, system integrators, consulting firms, and research groups directly involved with mechanical and electronic (mechatronics) motion control worldwide. According to MCA, their member companies foundation will enable them to round out services currently provided to industry and add more. Read More

CSA Group expands one-stop medical services in South Korea.

Through alliance, CSA Group and Korea Institute of Medical Device Assessment can further expand one-stop medical device testing and certification services for localized manufacturers. KIMDA will test medical products to applicable U.S. and Canadian standards to support growing demand of Korean medical products in North American markets. Qualified Korean manufacturers can gain globally recognized CSA certification based upon testing carried out locally at KIMDA laboratory. Read More

EPA releases chemical screening data on 1,800 chemicals.

EPA's interactive Chemical Safety for Sustainability or iCSS Dashboard provides access to data from innovative screening technologies for chemicals that are found in industrial and consumer products, food additives, and drugs. As part of data release, EPA is announcing ToxCast Data Challenges, a series of challenges inviting science and technology community to work with the data and provide solutions for how the new chemical screening data can be used to predict potential health effects. RIA releases asbestos fact sheets.

Developed by RIA's Environmental Council, fact sheets educate and protect restoration contractors from the dangers of mishandling asbestos-containing materials. Comprehensive version addresses materials, health issues, regulations, classes of asbestos work, hazard communication, training, control measures, and resources, while abridged version covers health issues, regulations, and some training information. TRIB Video highlights environmental benefits of retreading.

TRIB has joined forces with American Commercial Tire Network to launch a video that highlights the massive environmental benefits of tire retreading. According to TRIB Managing Director David Stevens, retreading conserves huge amounts of raw materials, reduces carbon dioxide output, keeps millions of tires out of landfill every year, and eventually helps with recycling of end-of-life tires to be used in other applications such as pavement and rubber mulch. AIA elects officers for 2014.

AIA Board of Governors has elected Michael T. Strianese, Chairman, President, and CEO of L-3 Communications, as its Chairman for 2014. Strianese will begin his term Jan 1, succeeding Wes Bush, Chairman, CEO, and President of Northrop Grumman Corporation. David L. Joyce, President and CEO of GE Aviation, was elected AIA’s Vice Chairman. Board re-elected Marion C. Blakey as AIA’s President and CEO and Ginette C.
