Log Skidder Safety Manual revised for industry best practices.

AEM Log Skidder Safety Manual has been updated with content provided and reviewed by Association’s Forestry Equipment Council to ensure it provides latest industry-consensus best practices for safe machine operation. Clearly illustrated with new pictorials, manual describes preparing for safe equipment operation, safe operation guidelines, and equipment maintenance. NEMA has published NEMA WD 8-2013 Guidelines for Electrical Wiring Device Replacement. Guide contains checklist intended for evaluating safety of wiring devices and associated electrical equipment installed in residences, by building maintenance and management personnel. FCC and FTC Commissioners join innovation policy roundtable.

CEA® announced that U.S. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler and U.S. FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez will be featured speakers at the 2015 International CES®. European Commission, Agency endorse modernization initiative.

European Commission and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) endorsed global "CS23/Part 23 Reorganization" initiative, which will modernize how smaller airplanes are certified and lead to aviation authorities modernizing their own certification rules. Based on 16 draft standards being developed by ASTM International Committee F44 on General Aviation Aircraft, initiative intends to cut cost and increase safety of general aviation airplanes and technology. Proposed Standard covers composite electrical conductors.

November 19, 2014

ASTM B987, Specification for Carbon Fiber Composite Core/Thermoset Matrix for Use in Overhead Electrical Conductors, will establish methods used to measure critical properties of composite core products specifically for overhead power line applications. These properties allow composite conductor to perform at much higher power levels than traditional steelcore conductor. Utilities will use ASTM B987 to confirm that composite conductors they purchase will perform according to their line designs. Read More
