OPC Foundation Names Stefan Hoppe as new vice president.

OPC Foundation named one member of its Board of Directors, Stefan Hoppe (president of OPC Europe), as its new vice president. In this position, Hoppe will take global leadership role to help position OPC-UA as worldwide standard for interoperability and IoT (Internet of Things) communication. ASABE Adopts Updated ISO Standard for rear-mounted PTO linkages.

American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) adopted recently amended ISO 730:2009. New standard, ANSI/ASABE AD730:2009 W/Amd 1:2014, Agricultural wheeled tractors — Rear-mounted three-point Linkage — Categories 1N, 1, 2N, 2, 3N, 3, 4N and 4, includes link coupler illustrations and hitch data for larger tractors equipped with 45 mm PTO shafts. These were added in July 2014 Amendment 1 to ISO 730:2009 and further harmonizes national and international standardization. Read More

MCAA releases results of 2015 Customer Satisfaction Survey.

April 14, 2015

Nearly 18,000 customers (including buyers, users, resellers, and channel partners) were surveyed in 2015. In all, 2,733 surveys were completed by customers or channel partners resulting in 15.2% absolute overall response rate and average response rate of 19.5%. Measured by overall satisfaction and loyalty, 2015 Customer Satisfaction results for manufacturers indicate overall customer satisfaction at its second highest level in 12 years and customer loyalty in third place in the time period. NTSB Calls for Improvements to flammable liquid rail tank cars.

April 13, 2015

NTSB issued 4 urgent recommendations regarding production of robust, fire-resistant rail cars used to safely carry such flammable liquids as crude oil and ethanol. Among said recommendations was aggressive scheduling for replacing/retrofitting current rail car fleet with better thermal protection against heat from fires and increasing pressure relief device capacity. Noting increasing crude oil rail traffic, NTSB's Christopher A. Hart said, "We can’t wait a decade for safer rail cars." Read More

Utah Governor signs Interchangeable Biologic Medicines bill.

BIO commends Utah Governor Gary Herbert for signing into law important legislation that serves to update existing Utah laws governing substitution of interchangeable biologic medicines. House Bill 279 represents a significant step forward, ensures transparency and communication between patients and their treatment teams, and is fully consistent with BIO’s principles on biologic substitution. IPC releases PCB industry results for February 2015.

According to February findings from North American PCB Statistical Program, sales remained sluggish, but bookings increased over last year. Total PCB shipments decreased 1.1% in February 2015 from February 2014, bringing year-to-date shipment growth to -1.6%. Compared to previous month, PCB shipments were up 1.2%. PCB bookings increased by 5.1% compared to February 2014, improving year-to-date order growth rate to 0.9%. Orders declined 0.7% in February compared to previous month. Read More

T. Bella Dinh-Zarr sworn in as NTSB vice chairman.

T. Bella Dinh-Zarr, PhD, MPH, became a board member on March 23, 2015, and was designated as vice chairman by President Obama. Prior to her appointment to the NTSB, Vice Chairman Dinh-Zarr served as Director of the U.S. Office of the FIA Foundation, an international philanthropy dedicated to promoting safe and sustainable transportation. Convened by NREL and comprised of 425 members of PV market chain, Solar Access to Public Capital working group has released best practices guidelines for solar photovoltaic systems, with goal of increasing investor confidence in long-term viability of PV systems. NEMA published ANSI/NEMA MW 1000-2015 Magnet Wire. MW 1000 is designed to present, in concise and convenient form, all existing NEMA standards for magnet wire, including standards for round, rectangular, and square film-insulated and/or fibrous-covered copper and aluminum magnet wire. It contains definitions, type designations, dimensions, constructions, performance, and test methods for magnet wire generally used in winding of coils for electrical apparatus. Read More
