ASTM Petroleum Committee recognizes Lyle Bowman.

ASTM International Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants and ASTM Committee on Standards have presented the Frank W. Reinhart Award to Lyle O. Bowman, a technical consultant based in San Rafael, CA. A member of ASTM for 34 years, Bowman was specifically cited for his outstanding contributions to terminology relating to petroleum products and lubricants. He was also instrumental in the development of D02’s terminology standard, ASTM D4175, which was first approved in 1983. Read More

Members of Congress write EPA Administrator in support of RFS.

BIO thanks Senators Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), Al Franken (D-Minn.), and John Thune (R-S.D.) and 27 additional Senators along with Reps. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.), Kristi Noem (R-S.D.) and 29 additional Congress members for letters protesting EPA’s 2014 proposed rule for Renewable Fuel Standard. According to Brent Erickson, EPA's proposal to reduce biofuel production and use could threaten development of advanced and cellulosic biofuels and put job creation at risk. Read More

NACD Opposes IST in joint industry letter to White House.

January 30, 2014

In their letter to President Obama and Interagency Working Group (IWG) on Improving Chemical Facility Safety and Security, NACD and 12 other associations commended IWG for its work but took exception to portion of recent report regarding Inherently Safer Technologies (IST). "To attempt to overlay an IST requirement would negatively impact all of these various safety and security programs and create an impossible bureaucratic burden," stated the Associations. Thomas Arista, Investigator/National Expert-Biotech, FDA/ORA/ORO/DDFI, and Richard Friedman, Associate Director, Office of Manufacturing & Product Quality, FDA/CDER/OMPQ have been confirmed as keynote speakers at ISPE’s 23rd Annual Conference on Barrier Isolation, RABS and Aseptic Processing Technology. Election Results Announced for 2014 RIA Board of Directors.

As announced during Robotics Industry Forum in Orlando, FL, 2014 RIA Board of Directors election results include Stu Shepherd as new chairperson. He is joined on RIA Executive Committee by Catherine Morris, Joe Gemma, Mike Jacobs, Curtis Richardson, and Jeff Burnstein. Brian Behm is joining for his first 2-year term, while John Bubnikovich, Mick Estes, and Kirk Goins have been re-elected to new 2-year terms. As announced during AIA Business Conference in Orlando, FL, 2014 AIA Board of Directors election results included Components Express, Inc. Vice President Steve Mott as new chairperson. Board members elected to new 2-year terms include George Chamberlain of Pleora Technologies, Marc Marini of National Instruments, John Merva of Gardasoft Vision, and Steve Wardell of ATS Imaging.
