Gregg Fleisher to deliver keynote at Smartforce Student Summit.

As announced by AMT, Gregg Fleisher, Chief Academic Officer for National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI), will deliver keynote address on September 9 at Smartforce Student Summit at International Manufacturing Technology Show 2014 (IMTS). Summit gives students first-hand, interactive view of manufacturing technology while also promoting careers in industry. SME Conference focuses on composites manufacturing.

Scheduled for April 8–10 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, Composites Manufacturing 2014 will focus on the impact of composite materials on manufacturing today and in the future. Three-day event will address what makes composite manufacturing increasingly more vital to numerous industries, as it lowers manufacturing costs, enhances product quality, and saves energy. EPA and Federal Partners advance decontamination techniques.

February 20, 2014

U.S. EPA and federal partners announced results of multi-year Bio-Response Operational Testing and Evaluation (BOTE) project, which tested and evaluated decontamination techniques for biological incident. According to EPA's Lek Kadeli, "information gained from this project gives communities tested decontamination methods and real world guidance to inform future response efforts." Project also examined associated costs of each method and expense of managing waste cleanup. Read More

NEMA Publication reaches 50,000 subscribers.

Now in its nineteenth year of publication, NEMA's ei (electroindustry magazine) has grown from newsletter format to full-color, 32-page monthly magazine. Along with the magazine, the communications department also publishes a bi-weekly newsletter, eiXtra; hosts a podcast series, NEMAcast; produces various types of informative marketing materials; and manages the association’s blog (NEMAcurrents), Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts. AAMA Recognizes Member Leadership during 77th Annual Conference.

AAMA recognized contributions and achievements of its members and congratulated award winners at 77th Annual Conference Awards Banquet. Steve Fronek of Apogee Enterprises was named Outstanding Member, Technoform's Mark Silverberg received Architectural Products Group Distinguished Service Award, Dean Ruark of PGT Industries received Residential Products Group Distinguished Service Award, and Scott Condreay took home Marketing Distinguished Service Award. Hydraulic Institute named Randy Bennett, VP of Technology & Operations, Leistritz Advanced Technologies Corporation, as its 2013 "Member of the Year." A member of HI for 7 years, Mr. Bennett was selected by the Board of Directors for his superior commitment to the Hydraulic Institute in both leading and actively participating in different HI committees in the advancement of the Institute’s technical work and guiding young engineers within the organization. NEMA supports Montgomery County, MD bill.

NEMA congratulates the leadership of Montgomery County, MD, to make commercial and municipal building energy use transparent by introducing benchmarking and disclosure bill. Montgomery County Councilmember Roger Berliner introduced the legislation, along with majority of his colleagues, which would require large buildings to benchmark their energy use and disclose their ENERGY STAR® score, a 1-100 percentile ranking of building's energy performance as rated against similar building types. PMMI Mechatronics Certificates chosen as standard for training.

In northwestern Indiana, educators at Purdue University Calumet fostering corporate-collegiate connections and implementing $2.74 million U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant. Latter supports training for displaced workers by requiring participants to earn nationally recognized credential. Purdue University Calumet has chosen PMMI's Mechatronics Certificates for similar credentials. Read More
