AEM Hall of Fame Nominations are open all year.

AEM Hall of Fame, according to Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), is accepting nominations all year long. While nomination deadline for 2014 inductees closes on June 6, 2014, nominations submitted thereafter will be considered for 2015 AEM Hall of Fame. Candidates are evaluated on 5 criteria critical to health of off-road equipment manufacturing industry: innovation, industry contributions, leadership, corporate citizenship/social responsibility, and sustainability. AIA Names Schmid VP for National Security and Acquisition Policy.

Bringing legislative experience on budget policy from Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, Elizabeth L. "Betsy" Schmid joined Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) as its Vice President for National Security and Acquisition Policy. President and CEO Marion C. Blakey, after noting forthcoming "long-term environment of constricted budgets," said AIA "could not ask for a better-qualified policy expert...to lead our efforts in the national security and acquisition policy arenas." Equipment Leasing/Finance Industry Confidence is near 2-year high.

According to February 2014 Monthly Confidence Index for Equipment Finance Industry (MCI-EFI), overall confidence in equipment finance market is 63.3. This marks second highest index in 2 years, second to previous month's 2-year high of 64.9. Report also covers future business conditions, demand for leases and loans to fund capital expenditures, access to capital to fund equipment acquisitions, employee hiring, and business development spending as well as opinions on U.S. economy. Researchers Use Light to measure blood clotting properties.

Published in OSA's open-access journal Biomedical Optics Express, "Assessing Blood Coagulation Status with Laser Speckle Rheology" describes optical device that, with few drops of blood and within few minutes, measures key coagulation parameters to provide caregivers with timely information about clotting properties of patient's blood. Senior author Seemantini Nadkarni defined team's goal as to provide lab test information but quickly and at patient's bedside. Read More

IREC joined 20 other national business organizations yesterday to share plans to ensure students/workers have necessary knowledge and skills to work in modern economy. Convened by ACT Foundation and Business Roundtable, National Network of Business and Industry Associations is coordinating cross-sector efforts to close skills gap.
