EPA honors 2014 Clean Air Excellence Award winners.

EPA is presenting the 2014 Clean Air Excellence Awards honoring 9 projects from across the United States and one individual. Award recognizes innovative programs that protect Americans' health and the environment, educate the public, serve communities, and stimulate the economy. From improving indoor air quality in Tribal communities in the Northwest to installing solar panels in Tennessee, award winners demonstrate commitment to improving air and addressing climate change. NTSB Training Course focuses on helicopter accident investigation.

April 9, 2014

Helicopter Accident Investigation Course will be held August 18–22, 2014 at NTSB's Training Center in Ashburn, VA. Course will provide overview of procedures and methods used as well as skills required for all aspects of helicopter accident investigation. Instructors from U.S. Army National Guard will also provide instruction in helicopter aerodynamics, operations, and investigations, and attendees will get to practice investigative skills via hands-on examination. FAA Withdraws Suspension for ASI aircraft repair station.

April 9, 2014

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) withdrew emergency order which suspended repair station certificate of Aviation Service, Inc. (ASI) in Lexington, KY. Order was withdrawn by FAA on March 11 after ASI met requirement to establish FAA-approved Employee Training Program (ETP). Initially, FAA issued suspension of ASI's certificate after it failed to establish required training program; agency determined emergency existed related to safety of traveling public. Read More

IPC and ITI Seminars look at product environmental requirements.

April 9, 2014

Hosted by IPC and ITI, "Critical and Emerging Environmental Product Requirements" seminars will take place in May 2014 in Boston, Silicon Valley, Phoenix, and Chicago. UK regulators Steve Andrews and Chris Smith, as keynote speakers, will highlight changes in EU regulations affecting industry. Also, seminar will feature overview of Asian regulations affecting industry as well as supply chain panel on sustainability and non-regulatory drivers of product environmental trends. Read More

FPSA Members elect new officers.

April 8, 2014

On March 27, FPSA held its Annual Meeting, during which members elected new FPSA Executive Committee. Gil Williams of Poly-clip System was chosen for Chairman, while Tom Riggins of R.A. Jones was chosen for Chairman of the Membership Committee, and Tom Kittle of Handtmann was elected Chairman of the Show Committee. In addition, Scott Gregory of Bettcher Industries was picked for Treasurer and Jeff Dahl of JBT FoodTech became Immediate Past Chairman. Read More

AAMA updates testing options within flashing specification.

AAMA 712-14, Voluntary Specification for Mechanically Attached Flexible Flashing establishes minimum performance criteria to allow user to evaluate and select mechanically attached flexible flashing products intended for exterior perimeter of fenestration products. AAMA 712 calls for laboratory testing per ASTM methods to verify performance parameters, including tensile strength, water resistance, low-temperature flexibility, puncture resistance, tear resistance, and accelerated UV aging. MISA Foundation raises record amount at auction.

April 8, 2014

During its annual dinner and auction in Orlando, FL, Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance Foundation raised over $93,500. Record number of attendees bid on items ranging from advertising packages to electronics at the event, which was held in conjunction with the FPSA Annual Meeting and Conference. Foundation will be awarding seven $5,000 scholarships to students studying meat sciences at universities across the country. Students will be able to apply through May 1st of 2014. Read More

NEMA Commends Senators on building energy efficiency legislation.

April 8, 2014

NEMA welcomed Energy Efficiency Tax Incentives Act (S.2189), introduced by Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and Brian Schatz (D-HI), which includes language that would reinstate and improve Commercial Building Tax Deduction. After lauding aforementioned senators for their leadership in advancing energy efficiency in domestic energy economy, NEMA's Evan R. Gaddis specifically noted "significant" gains to be had from reduced overall energy use through building improvements. Read More
