CONEXPO-CON/AGG continues momentum with 2017 dates announced.

Scheduled for March 7–11, 2017 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, CONEXPO-CON/AGG international exposition will be chaired by Richard M. Goldsbury, President Bobcat/Doosan North America and Australia/Oceania for Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment, West Fargo, North Dakota. Goldsbury will lead triennial show's management committee, a group of volunteer manufacturers and other industry stakeholders who oversee show planning to ensure event meets industry needs. EPA honors 2014 Energy Star Partners of the Year.

U.S. EPA and DOE are honoring 127 organizations for their commitment to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. Recipients of the 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award include Des Moines Public School District; KB Home; Meritage Homes Corporation; PepsiCo., Inc.; Sears Holdings Corporation; and Samsung. Winners were selected from 16,000 Energy Star partners, including manufacturers, retailers, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies, and home builders. NEMA commends extension of 179D tax deduction.

NEMA commended Senate Finance Committee on its approval of a 2-year extension of the Energy Efficient Commercial Buildings Tax Deduction, also known as Section 179D, as part of the Expiring Provisions Improvement Reform and Efficiency Act. Provision allows taxpayer to take a deduction equal to commercial building energy-efficiency expenditures made by taxpayer as part of building’s interior lighting systems, heating, cooling, ventilation, and hot water systems, or building envelope. USDA-EPA to improve access to clean water along Mexico border.

According to findings published in U.S. Mexico Border Scoping Assessment Phase 1 Report, communities in Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas need improved water infrastructure and/or face environmental and/or public health risks associated with inadequate or failing water infrastructure systems. Resources provided through USDA and EPA joint initiative will help mitigate health and environmental risks, advance economic development, and improve quality of life for those living in the region. IREC Names Sara Baldwin Auck as new Regulatory Program Director.

Sara Baldwin Auck, with nearly one decade of regulatory policy experience and project management, will serve as Regulatory Program Director for IREC. According to IREC Board Chair David Warner said position "was created in recognition of the importance of expanding IREC's level of engagement in the regulatory arena." Warner went on to compliment Auck's "extraordinary expertise and skills" as well as her future "strategic leadership and overall management of IREC's regulatory activities." Read More

A4A Commends EU Parliament on EU ETS "Stop the Clock" extension.

April 10, 2014

Airlines for America (A4A) commended European Union (EU) Parliament for its work in agreeing to extend "stop the clock" provision on unilateral application of EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) to international aviation. This will stay application of EU ETS to flights to and from EU through 2016. In comment, A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio said that this extension protects "U.S. travelers and shippers from unwarranted EU ETS tax hikes that drive up the cost of air travel." Read More
