By releasing Principles on Clinical Trial Data Sharing, adopted by its Health Section Governing Board, BIO reaffirmed and broadened its commitment to improving human health through development of innovative therapies. BIO Applauds Statue Dedication to Norman Borlaug.

BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood issued statement celebrating "life and legacy" of American geneticist and plant pathologist Dr. Norman E. Borlaug – honored with statue and dedication ceremony in U.S. Capitol's National Statuary Hall. Borlaug led global agricultural evolution through research and advocacy for modern farming practices. He also helped reduce starvation via development of high-yield, disease-resistant crop varieties and modern agricultural systems. Read More

Governor Pence signs interchangeable biologic medicine bill.

BIO and the Indiana Health Industry Forum commend Indiana Governor, Mike Pence for signing legislation designed to create pathway for substitution of interchangeable biologic medicines. Policies outlined in Senate Bill 262 align with all 5 of BIO’s principles on biologic substitution. Bill seeks to properly preserve patient access to accurate prescription information, maintains incentives for innovation, and promotes competitive market for biologic therapies. Read More

IPC Elects Officers, First-Term Member to Board of Directors.

Nominating and Governance Committee of IPC Board of Directors presented 4 candidates for election at IPC Annual Meeting today. Those elected as 2-year term board officers are Marc Peo (Chairman of the Board), Joe O’Neil (Vice Chairman), and Mikel Williams (Secretary/Treasurer). Steven Betza was elected as first-term Board director and will serve 4-year term. Outgoing Board chairman, Steve Pudles, will serve as Immediate Past Chair on IPC Board of Directors Executive Committee for 2 years. Read More

EPA and Army Corps aim to clarify Clean Water Act.

April 1, 2014

EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released proposed rule to clarify protection under Clean Water Act for streams and wetlands that form foundation of nation’s water resources. Specifically, proposed rule clarifies that: most seasonal and rain dependent streams are protected; wetlands near rivers and streams are protected; and other types of waters may have more uncertain connections with downstream water and protection will be evaluated through case specific analysis.
