EPA Grants assist small drinking water and wastewater systems.

April 10, 2014

U.S. EPA is awarding $12.7 million in grants to help small drinking water and wastewater systems – those serving fewer than 10,000 people – and private well owners. More than 97% of nation’s 157,000 public water systems serve fewer than 10,000 people. Grantees will provide training and technical assistance to improve small system operations and management practices, promote system sustainability, and support EPA’s mission to protect public health and the environment. A4A Commends EU Parliament on EU ETS "Stop the Clock" extension.

April 10, 2014

Airlines for America (A4A) commended European Union (EU) Parliament for its work in agreeing to extend "stop the clock" provision on unilateral application of EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) to international aviation. This will stay application of EU ETS to flights to and from EU through 2016. In comment, A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio said that this extension protects "U.S. travelers and shippers from unwarranted EU ETS tax hikes that drive up the cost of air travel." Read More

IREC Names Sara Baldwin Auck as new Regulatory Program Director.

Sara Baldwin Auck, with nearly one decade of regulatory policy experience and project management, will serve as Regulatory Program Director for IREC. According to IREC Board Chair David Warner said position "was created in recognition of the importance of expanding IREC's level of engagement in the regulatory arena." Warner went on to compliment Auck's "extraordinary expertise and skills" as well as her future "strategic leadership and overall management of IREC's regulatory activities." Read More

EPA seeks small entity participation in emissions standards.

EPA is inviting small businesses, governments, and not-for-profit organizations to participate as Small Entity Representatives for Small Business Advocacy Review Panel, which will focus on agency's proposed extension of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles' greenhouse gas emissions standards beyond model year 2018. This action could affect manufacturers of on-road vehicles, from semi-trucks and trailers to largest pickup trucks and vans, along with all types and sizes of work trucks and buses. Read More
