Lasers and Night-Vision Technology help image lymphatic system.

Researchers at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School developed near-infrared fluorescence lymphatic imaging (NIRFLI) technology, which can non-invasively image human lymphatic system using fluorescent dye, commercially available laser diode, and military-grade night vision devices. At CLEO: 2014, UTHealth scientist John Rasmussen will describe how this technology has been taken from benchtop development to various clinical applications. Read More

NEMA's Ryan Franks selected as 2014 IEC Young Professional.

Ryan Franks, NEMA Energy Storage Technical Manager, was one of three people selected by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as 2014 IEC Young Professional. He will participate in IEC Young Professionals 2014 Workshop in Tokyo, Japan this November. NEMA President and CEO Evan R. Gaddis praised Ryan's "ability to effectively lead groups to identify and accomplish their objectives," emphasizing rarity of finding young individuals with technical training, talent, and focus. BIO supports release of Berkeley Research Group analysis.

BIO expresses support for release of Berkeley Research Group analysis entitled Trends in 340B Covered Entity Acquisitions of Physician-based Oncology Practices. The 340B program has grown tremendously in the last few years, and one driver of that growth is hospitals acquiring physician practices. Study quantifies this emerging trend by analyzing 340B chargebacks for certain oncology products to understand this dynamic and the impact of such acquisitions on the volume of 340B discounts. North American PCB Industry continues slow growth.

June 5, 2014

According to IPC's North American PCB Statistical Program, year-on-year growth was up slightly in April and book-to-bill ratio remained positive at 1.01. Total North American PCB shipments increased 1.6% in April 2014 from April 2013, which moved year-to-date shipment growth to -0.2%. Compared to previous month, PCB shipments declined 12.0%. In addition, PCB bookings strengthened but continued negative at -1.5% year over year, and order growth fell 8.1% from previous month. Read More
