Bob Vila's American Home
Practically the spokesman for all things carpentry, Bob Vila had a profound effect on the home improvement craze that swept the U.S. beginning in the 1990s. You probably know his friendly mug from one of his numerous televised shows, such as American Home, and this site is a recap of various home construction and improvement projects. You can learn from step-by-step articles, videos, blog or fix-it guides. Or you can ask questions on the forum or to Bob Vila directly.

Moreover, "thousands of forum members debate and discuss topics in a respectful and informative exchange that has built tolerance and friendships."

DIY Network
From the makers of the popular Home and Garden Television (HGTV) network and Food Network, DIY Network is "the go-to destination for rip-up, knock-out home improvement television." Online, its programs, posts and experts offer some of the best know-how and how-to when it comes to pretty much any type of do-it-yourself project.

HGTV
A companion site to the popular HGTV show, here you can learn about everything from "The Ultimate Kitchen Remodeling Guide" to "Fun Ideas for Small Bathrooms." It also features how-to videos (examples: "User-Friendly Laminate Floor" and "Custom Closet Renovation") and "tooltorials" on how to properly use routers, grinders, saws and much more.

MAKE
Published as a quarterly magazine/book hybrid, MAKE magazine claims to bring "the do-it-yourself mindset to all the technology in your life." And it fully delivers. The first magazine devoted entirely to DIY tech projects, and loaded with awesome projects that help readers make the most of common technology, MAKE celebrates "your right to tweak, hack and bend any technology to your own will." This site, along with HacksZine, is part of O'Reilly Publishing.

DIY Live

ToolMonger.com
ToolMonger.com's tagline says it all: "All tools. All the time." The creators/authors of this site spend their time tracking down tool-related happenings and looking for deals, news, reviews and, of course, tools — and post the information here for other "toolaholics."
