January 22, 2008 2:38 PMDepends on what people consider "best quality of life." I cannot think of any country that equates to the quality of life right here in the USA.
January 22, 2008 3:27 PMI use to think the USA, but with our government I would rather live somewhere else.
January 22, 2008 4:21 PMI believe that Canada with all the natural resources and wide open spaces is the best country to live.
January 22, 2008 4:41 PMThe complete entry into Socialism must be stopped, or the USA will not be the ideal country to live. I am 87 years of age, I have spent over 60 years in business for myself, and I feel that I have lived through the finest years of our country's history. Big government run by people who could not provide for themselves in free enterprise. I have seen the schools, government, and the people decline in status. It hurts to see our free enterprise system be ruined by government.
January 22, 2008 8:49 PMAccording to OECD`s list it have been Norway the last consecutive years except this year when it was Iceland. But on a bubble econemy as it now seems. So I am pretty sure Norway will regain that throne next year again. Sorry guys, but the USA is way down there and have always been. To the wealthy the place they live is usually the best for them, but for the masses usually not!
January 23, 2008 12:21 AMI would say Canada. They have a standard of living that rivals or maybe even exceeds ours, they have all those natural resources with all that space and yet only a small population.
As a bonus, they don't have anywhere near the worldwide enemies and terrorism exposure the US does. They don't need a large military budget because they have a giant friendly neighbor that takes care of that.
Canadian society seems to be better educated and more culturally advanced than ours. The Scandinavian countries are also very close to this ideal.
The governments of all these countries are a little more socialistic than ours, but in a world of increasing population, societal pressures and declining natural resources, a socialistic model is needed to cope with all these.
