16 CommentsYou CAN have speed and quality, however, it is going to COST. I have a three-pronged rule that I tell my customers:
- You can have it done quickly.
- You can have it done correctly.
- You can have it done cheaply.
But you can only choose two out of the three.
I think many clients ask for low price more than quality. They place their order to the one who offers the lowest price.
WE sell graphite products, tungsten products and silicon carbide products, including mechanical seal rings, nozzles, sand blasting nozzle, slurry nozzle, sleeves, bushings, bearings, valve ball and valve seat, drawing dies and stamping dies [...] and so on. Also any different model could be made as per your specification.

First time QUALITY requires an important input, i.e. TIME.
October 11, 2006 12:13 AMIn my 45 years experience, there has never been enough time to do it correctly...but always time to do it over.
October 11, 2006 7:20 AMI'm retired, but I was president of a large yacht manufacturer. We did away with QC and empowered our employees with being able to stop the line when they had screwed-up WITHOUT any consequences. Before long, each yacht builder was taking pride and ownership of his/her task. Then things got done quickly (manhours dropped from 2500 to 1157) with NO errors. The proof was that no owner ever required any warranty work.
October 11, 2006 9:48 AMReliability & Maintainability are key factors to identify quality. Cheaply done & complete are two issues that may not co-exist. Time is money. Cheaply done is generally not complete. If the project is not complete, then the same project is probably not reliable... However, if you know what needs to be done (exactly) and you know how long it will take you to complete the project -- then YES it can be done more cheaply... At least cost efficient and/or effective.
October 11, 2006 1:32 PMEvery time a race car pulls into the pit...tires are changed, vehicle is fueled, windshields cleaned, and all the ancillary activities associated with these tasks are accomplished, IN SECONDS...ALL it takes is COMPETENCE, which is a rarity in American corporations these days...YES, you can have all three!
October 12, 2006 12:53 PMHey racecar man,
Sure the tires are changed quickly and correctly, but how much does it cost to train and employ a world-class pit team, never mind the equipment.
So... NOT Cheaply, and thus, not all 3.
