Humor in the workplace is critical in a fast-paced field. I work for a company that makes work fun. It is a joy and I look forward to going to work everyday. According to the president of our company, "If you're not having fun, you're in the wrong line of work."

No, we have laughter and smiles here. If you can't have fun with it, don't do it!

Laughter is missing at the upper levels or is not shared with the floor by these people, possibly because they fear being laughed at or with. They seem to want to establish an authoritarian regime, and it eliminates much of the fun of going to work. They are stingy with praise, as well, fearing people will expect something more. It's become a bottom-line business and not much fun. Too much push and not enough pull. Not much respect for the workers.

I am also a believer that if you're not having any fun, get out as soon as you can!

I do my best to instill a little humor into the places I work. Even if it means making a few "non-laughers" uncomfortable.

Laughter is an important component of work. It helps build a well-functioning team. Laughter allows us to keep things in their proper perspective. We operate a cleaning and maintenance company -- the laughter helps us remain sane.

Healthy humor at work relieves stress, particularly in meetings where difficult matters are being discussed. Back in the lab, smiles and good humor make us more productive, and time passes quicker.

Not in some places here. Supervisory levels are focusing more in production than organization.

And yes, laughter matters.

The immediate environment does not lack humor, and before individuals get too tense, humor acts as the key for everyone staying on the same page.=====

I have always been a believer of the lighter side of life. Since I found the following quote, I have tried to help others realize it.=====

"A little nonsense now and then is cherished by the wisest men." – Roald Dahl
