Editor’s Note: The Evolution of Product Sourcing

If you’re a regular reader of ThomasNet News, you’re likely a registered user of ThomasNet.com. What you might not be aware of is that my colleagues recently relaunched the supplier discovery and product sourcing platform to make it more efficient for engineers, buyers, and supply professionals to use.

At ISM2014 next month in Las Vegas, as I prowl the show to report on news, my colleagues will be on the floor to demo the improved (and still free) platform. They will walk users through a sleeker, intuitive interface to find suppliers (from 700,000+ OEMs, custom manufacturers, distributors, and services firms) and products (from a database of over 100 million parts, components, raw materials, and equipment items).

The platform now features an application for finding suppliers by ownership for those seeking to meet diversity spend. The Custom Quotes application puts ThomasNet.com’s staff engineers to work, using their expertise to connect buyers to job shops and customer manufacturers faster. The Industry News application’s product news and feature articles (where ThomasNet News resides) is accessible from wherever you are on the platform.

Many of you go way back to the Thomas Register books. Supplier discovery has evolved, and so has the ThomasNet.com platform. If you will be in Las Vegas, visit my teammates at the ThomasNet.com booth for a demo. Or take a video tour on ThomasNet.com to see what we’ve done.
