This week, ThomasNet News’ editors are at the Atlantic Design and Manufacturing trade show, taking place June 18 through 20. The show is part of seven co-located events that feature 1,000 suppliers of materials, equipment, systems, and services used in production design and development.
Currently there is a legislative proposal before the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives to encourage the U.S. Department of Defense to buy up volumes of strategic rare earth elements. According to Canadian rare earth minerals producer Ucore Rare Metals, the legislation calls for the U.S. government to spend $41 million to stockpile six critical metals, including dysprosium and yttrium. We’ll give you the bad news first: “Worldwide CO2 emissions rose by 1.4 percent to 31.6 billion tonnes, according to estimates from the Paris-based IEA,” Reuters reported in mid-June.
The good news? As we said, that depends on where you live. If you’re in the United States or Europe, your contribution is going down.
