Based on 162 responses to an 11 page questionnaire sent to 900 colleges and universities across the United States, Sierra Club has released its rankings of the top 100 greenest campuses. In a name-fulfilling prophecy, Green Mountain College in Vermont took top honors. The institutions were rated according responses in 10 categories, the first and foremost being energy supply, which carried the most significance in the rankings. The other nine categories included energy efficiency, food service, academics, and purchasing, along with transportation, waste management, administration, financial investments, and other initiatives. The Tennessee Valley Authority’s research project on energy efficient homes versus traditional homes has completed its first year of data collection. The Campbell Creek Energy Efficient Homes Project was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of residential construction and efficiency technologies in a controlled environment. Read more
