I’m a “retired” Mechanical Design Engineer.
I retired in 1991 after 40 years in the private sector, (progressing from Tool and Die Maker-to-designer-to-Engineer) and immediately started my own design business which I still run because I love to have my “creative juices” flowing.
I just turned 75 and my health is good and so is the prognosis for my business.
Couch potatos can’t have as much fun as I am having!I run Solid works, Autocad and search the web like a Pro,(because I am a Pro). The money isn’t hard to take either!
My wife who is the Secy/Treasurer of our business
is 2 years my junior and also has Computer skills as well as homemaking skills.(Mrs. Clean makes me take off my shoes before walking on the carpet!)The most fulfilling aspect of my job is the constant challenge that demands such dedication to detail in the design of tooling, machinery, patent drawings, etc. -

I’m retired now and disabled from an on the job accident at a construction site. I cannot climb like a monkey anymore but I can teach CADD softwares to the kids in the local school district. Its fun and more rewarding than putting in the last outlet in a building. Our greatest assets in this country and others are sitting in schools everywhere and help is always appreciated. Consider doing it yourself and the feeling you get is beyond description.

I became a CAD guy after teaching for 9 years. I’ve been doing CAD for 6 years and loving it. I have dreams of going back to teaching just to share the knowledge and initiate enthusiasm with the student population and knock their socks off!

Well, is good to be in other side of the fence. I was a mechanical design engineer for a consulting firm, working 7 to 5 every day for the last 15 years. Two years ago I retired. Now I have my own business as mechanical contractor in all kind of mechanical assembling or dismantling job, my wife is my partner and chief quality inspector, since she has been working as a consultant engineer also for a safety and insurance company. I enjoy it a lot, since I do what I want to do and what I like to do. I even could do it with out any pay at all. Children have growing up and gone. All have their own career and are doing very well. So my wife and I have no pressure at all on expenses of any kind. The only thing I regret is why I did not retired 10 years ago

I clean residential houses for a living. I know it may sound mundane but i get alot of satisfaction knowing i provide a service that allows people to have more time to pursue the things they want to do rather than what they have to do. You could say that i give the gift of time. I only wish people would not keep calling to cancel or switch their days. You should see my daily calender, it’s a mess.

Work is wonderful, life is wonderful. I get paid to learn while on the job. I am a purchasing agent and I love to shop, serve and work with people. I work very hard 40 hours a week and the rest of the time is mine.

I am semi-retired and only work three days a week!
While I keep two part time situations, including Amsoil products and opportunities in conversations with contacts at these places is still the most rewarding. Sites like Thomasnet and other resources come into a coffee conversation, therefore sharing web and Internet factoids and trivia that assist with increasing my inventory of prospects is valued and shared with like minded friends. Being semi-retired makes interaction with contacts time well spent when we share our entrepreneurial passions.
